Super Typhoon Haiyan was one of the strongest tropical cyclones to make landfall in recorded history and resulted in widespread damage to the Philippines, especially in the central city of Tacloban. An estimated 9.5 million people were affected and 618,175 people displaced. Besides the Philippines, Typhoon Haiyan also hit northern Vietnam and affected parts of China.
Coalition awarded grants to:
- World Jewish Relief (WJR) to support fishing and agricultural activities and to establish a disaster preparedness and mitigation program in Coron, Palawan.
- International Medical Corps (IMC) to provide psychosocial support and increase access to mental health services for the survivors of Typhoon Haiyan.
- Mercy Corps to facilitate economic recovery in the Philippines through an emergency cash transfer program and a financial inclusion program..
- Israel Relief Coalition (IRC) for education and youth rehabilitation programs in Guiuan — Samar Island.
